A few countries in the world were able to strike a good balance between the two extremes. Government controls basic services such as healthcare and education, while allowing free trade under strict regulations. Such regulations would ensure fairness and accountability. That's from the economy side

As for how the government is selected, democracy nowadays is a joke. It's more of a popularity contest rather than a reliable system to select leaders. Democracy also means majority rule, in which case the rights of minorities are often overlooked.

A weighted Democratic system on the other hand guarantees freedoms and equal rights to both minorities and the majority
